Ok, I am getting the feeling that I am the ONLY guy that is actually going to read the book Harry recommended in its entirety. The discussions have been limited lately and I spoke with Harry Sunday, who indicated that 'the momentum' had dropped, and that was why we didn't discuss the next chapter Sunday evening. Bummer.
But me, being me, pretty much as with everything, is finally reading chapter 8. Yeah, I know, we discussed chapter 9 last week, but somehow we skipped chapters 6,7, and 8 in the process.
Here were the topics in a nut shell:
6. Sex
7. Fatherhood
8. Workplace (with an emphasis on family-run businesses, that I found interesting)
Just wondering if anyone else benefitted from these chapters at all. I honestly felt like the guy was on target with 6 and 7 and found some of his crys for song writers to write about the beauty and awesomeness of intimacy rather interesting.
So, what did you think? Sick of the book, gave up at chapter 1, where are you and more importantly why?
I personally, and as a parent, am aware that if we are going to stop what we start because it gets difficult to press on through, we are never going to do anything difficult as a church and fear that Harry's acceptance of this may (as a parent/child situation) teach us that if things get difficult along the way, we can whine and quit and we won't have to do it. Call me crazy, but I think if the book was worth starting, it was worth finishing...but i'd love to hear your thoughts...
Ben
